I've always been a pretty heavy beer/liquor drinker, but several months ago after running out in the midst of a football Sunday, my buddy's wife gave me a few glasses of wine. I really enjoyed myself that day, and have been having a couple bottles a week ever since.
Initially, I went with what she had given me: Barefoot Pinot Noir. I later learned that this was mass produced type stuff and was marketed toward mainly women. I had no idea until the guy at the beer store started making fun of me.
That being said, I was a big fan of the oaky/cherry taste that a pinot noir brings, so I've started drinking a lot of different brands of that: Mark West, Block Nine, Gnarly Head, Hob Nob, Little Penguing and something called Smoking Loon that I've never seen before, but am enjoying right now. (As you may be able to tell, I prefer to keep it under $20 whenever possible)
That being said, I'm wondering where to go from here. I know cabs are big with a lot of people but they tend to make me more nauseous than other wines for some reason. I also stay away from merlot due to a bad experience in 2006. I've also never had a white I enjoyed, so I stay away from that.
Thanks
