Hey fellow winos! I am looking to transplant myself onto the North Island of NZ this coming November. I would love to get a job working with wine and am looking for a little bit of advice from anybody who currently works in wine in the country or has in the past. I've worked in a wine shop for the past 5 years, to give a little background. I'd probably be looking for a job in sales, either at a bottle shop or cellar door sort of situation.
What sort of qualifications do employers look for?
Are there certain areas or cities where the wine culture is more prevalent than others?
How is the public transportation in and around wine country? (I won't have a vehicle, at least at first)
I'm sure I will come up with more and more questions as my time grows nearer. If anybody in the industry wants to be friends, I would love to pick yr brain further as I come up with more queries! I can't wait to get over there!
