I've been lurking r/wine for a long time but this is the first time I've felt like I had something to add.
I've got this crazy idea where I think that I've found a niche for marketing South African wine in my area.
I've read the books and done the basic research on permits and all that. I think I've got a feasible business plan.
However, I admittedly don't have any experience importing. My experience has more to do with marketing.
What I was hoping for was to tap the collect knowledge and experience of all the pros out there. What have you seen that I can't possibly learn from a book? What are distributors looking for in an importer? What else should I know? What do you wish you had known when you started? Why shouldn't I take on this crazy scheme?
Love r/wine. Thanks!
