French labeling- what's the best, most accurate way to determine appelation?

I recently purchased Cachette Blanc de Blancs. The label has no identifying information, and the rear label has general sulfite/sulfate warnings and "Product of France" on it.

I googled "Cachette Winery" to see if I could figure out an appellation that the winery is in, and Google tells me is that it's from Côtes du Rhône. But then when I google "Cachette Blanc de Blancs" I find that the grapes are sourced from Laudun and Chusclan, which are part of Côtes du Rhône, but that same site says that it is from Burgundy, north of the Rhône valley.

But anyway, do French wineries export grapes from one appellation to another for bottling? It seems like that would defeat the entire purpose of appellations. And what's the best site to actually figure out where French wine is from? (That second site says it's from Burgundy, but has grapes {Airen} native to Spain, AND is grown in Côtes du Rhône just sounds nuts.) What's going on here? Where is the internet quality control?! How does a beginner figure anything out?
