OK. So a few weeks ago everyone is drunk at my house and a few people go missing for a half hour, and come scrambling back up to my bar telling me about the wine tasting they just planned at my house for this Saturday.
I'm cool with it, but I'm a beer and Jameson guy. I don't mind wine, but I don't know which wine I like to bring. Now I know there are plenty of guides and ideas for beginners, but all the wines my local stores suggest first are the only wine these people drink. White and red cat, that barefoot stuff, and the other common stuff. We're not fancy.
So is there a national brand that might be a "hidden gem"? The idea is for everyone to bring something different, and they've already claimed all the wine I'm familiar with!
Red or white, doesn't matter... Preferably something on the sweet side. Nothing too boozy (where the alcohol overpowers the flavors). Something fruity and cheap is OK, we're not pros.
Also, any food suggestions are appreciated. We've got crackers and cheese.
