New York City's First r/wine Tasting - January 30th!

We have a date for the first NYC r/wine offline wine dinner! I have a reservation for ten (can be increased to 12) at Piccola Strada in the East Village at 9PM on January 30th. I had lots of fun organizing these dinners while in LA (see earlier post), and it's now time to bring this to NYC!

The format: Everyone, including myself, pays a $100 buy-in to cover the cost of the bottles. We start by tasting a moderate pour of each wine, such that we have about a half bottle of everything remaining for later. This allows everyone to informally enjoy a second and third glass of their favorites as the wines change with aeration.

The focus is on mature, Old World wines. See this account of the first LA r/wine tasting for an idea of what to expect.

Piccola Strada is offering $5 corkage and a $40 prix fixe menu including lots of family style appetizers followed by a choice of meat, fish, and pasta dishes (vegetarian substitutions available), plus desserts.

There was lots of interest expressed in the earlier thread. Please post again here if you'd like to claim a spot for the dinner!
