It's been said that all wine journeys end in Burgundy. I want to start exploring, but I could use some help.

This question is similar to one from a few days ago, but it's a little different. Nonetheless, I'm sure it comes up a lot.

Here's what I've heard from others or read on the internet:

-Don't even bother if you don't want to spend some serious cash. -Don't even bother if you aren't willing to cellar the wine or buy one that's already old. -Cru is no guarantee of quality (well, that's true of all wine classifications in any country). -Burgundy is more hit or miss that other kinds of wine. -Particular bottles are hard to find. You'll be better off checking your local wine store.

I'm sure there's some misinformation there. Do you folks have $15-20 Burgundy that you enjoy drinking fairly regularly? If so, what should I look for? What if I'm willing to spend in the $40-50 range?

Honestly, I don't even understand the labels when I look at bottles of Burgundy. Feel free to direct me to other resources. I have googled for some info, but I'd love to hear from reddit winos. Thanks!

EDIT: I'm primarily interested in red wine (it's mostly pinot in Burgundy, right?), but no need to limit info to reds. I've had a Chablis or two before that I enjoyed.
