My friend is hosting a wine tasting party/contest, and I was hoping you guys could give me a suggestion about what to bring.
Everyone brings a bottle of wine and $5. The host the bottles in numbered paper bags, then serves the guests a taste of each. Everyone scores each wine from 1-10. The person who brought the wine with the highest average score gets the money, and, more importantly, the pride of being the best wine-selector of all time.
Do you guys have a suggestion of something that would do well in this kind of thing? Last year's winner was Gnarly Head Zinfandel. There are no restrictions on type of wine or price, though last year nearly everyone brought red wines. I would like to spend no more than $30-35 on a bottle, if possible.
